With 21st century technology, one of the greatest gifts given to us would be the flat screen TV.
Even though there has been substantial weight reduction from the old CRT sets, the average flat screen TV (around 40″) will weigh something around 64 pounds. So, for Flat Screen Installation, preparation can be done by yourself, but actually moving the set needs two persons. Now, for flat screen TVs, the best option is wall mounting, although base mounting is also possible. The base mounting Flat Screen Installation involves much less work than wall mounting although they are both very simple tasks.
Speaker Mounting Brackets
The first step is to find an appropriate place in the house. The most important thing to bear in mind while locating a spot should be where sunlight falls in your room. While flat screens do have anti-glare technology, direct sunlight right across it will ruin the viewing, so try not to install it facing a door, window or balcony. Also to be considered is optimum viewing distance and height. The installation is not only limited to the TV, but making sure everyone has a good viewing experience. The basic rule for this is that the nearest seat should be twice the width of the screen and the farthest five times the same. While this depends on the output quality of the TV, it is a generally accepted rule. As for height, studies have shown that above 35 degrees of normal vision causes neck strain and below 15 degrees makes the image seem small.
For base mounting, simply attach the base and connect the wires. For wall mounting on a drywall (plasterboard), you need to find the wall studs (the 'framework' of the wall) and drill the wall mount screws in as per the distance between mount points on the TV. Such considerations are not needed for brick walls and you can drill the mount screws in.
Finally, to hide the wiring, the cheapest and most effective way would be to hide it behind, say the furniture that the home theater is kept on, or anything similar. Alternatively, one can consider running it through the walls by drilling holes (a professional electrician is recommended for brick walls).
For offices, it is recommended that Flat Screen Installation should be done by professionals. Just bear in mind: The TV should be elevated so as to give a clear view to all. The elevation should not cause discomfort (optimum height consideration). Speakers should be installed at corners for maximum coverage.
